The Archangel, a divine hotel and restaurant
For over 900 years the Archangel Hotel, Restaurant and Bar has been at the heart of life in the small market town of Frome, Somerset. Located right in the centre of Frome town, the Archangel has an excellent reputation for its vibrant, warm hospitality, top quality restaurant food and quirky but first class accommodation.
Completely refurbished by the previous owners this unique grade two listed building has retained many of its original features (including the squeaky floorboards!) and now offers the perfect fusion of old and new. Referred to by many as Frome’s most heavenly destination, the Archangel mixes ‘urban zing’ with the building’s heritage as a medieval coaching inn to create an atmosphere almost like no other.
Our stylish restaurant, which serves the best seasonal West Country produce alongside a carefully selected wine list, unfolds over three floors to include a floating glass cube for private dining for 12. Our bar with snug lounges is well known for its clever cocktails but also offers an excellent array of real ales, spirits and wines by the glass. Our 10 beautifully appointed Renaissance style bedrooms smartly combine quirky features such as free standing roll-top zinc baths and Angelic wall murals with exceedingly comfortable spacious beds. Our Naval Room and Library offer excellent private and business function facilities for a multitude of events.
Frome, often referred to as Somerset’s hidden gem, is the ideal touring centre for exploring some of the best of Somerset, and is within easy reach of Bath, Wells, Longleat, Stourhead, Glastonbury and Shaftesbury. From the various markets to English Heritage Properties there is also a great deal to see and do in Frome itself. Nearby villages, Nunney and Farleigh Hungerford have wonderfully atmospheric ruined castles, and Mells is where the nursery rhyme Little Jack Horner began and is the burial place of First World War poet Siegfried Sassoon.
We believe that the high quality offering at the Archangel is fully complemented by the service that we deliver. Our aim is to be welcoming, attentive yet discreet and totally flexible. So, whatever the occasion, with an outstanding restaurant, unique bedrooms and our location in this hidden gem of Somerset, the Archangel is a divine choice for any occasion. Whether you are travelling on business, wishing to savour a luxuriously romantic weekend break or simply have a sumptuous mid-week stay away, then we look forward to welcoming you to the Archangel.
